Keyword density

Top 20 phrases, ignoring case. Percentages use all 1-word sequences within sentences, including excluded phrases.

Add text to see its most frequent phrases.

Three small steps.

  1. Type, paste or open a text file and choose its language.
  2. Read live totals or select a passage for selection-only counts.
  3. Edit with undo and redo, copy, or clear the text and its history when you are finished.

A few things to know.

Choose English, Simplified Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, French, Arabic or Bengali for Intl.Segmenter word and sentence boundaries. Segments made only of letters and combining marks, with at least one letter, are counted even when a browser marks them non-word-like. Chinese word counts are not character counts. Visible characters use grapheme clusters, so an emoji sequence can count as one character. Reading and speaking rates are adjustable (defaults: 200 and 130 words/minute; supported range: 50–1,000). Keyword density is case-insensitive and uses within-sentence sequences, with optional exclusion of a small common-word list for the selected language. Mixed-language text and browser versions can produce different boundaries. Time estimates are not language proficiency measures. Limit: 1 million UTF-16 code units; text files smaller than 4 MB.

A little more clarity.

Which languages can I choose?

English, Simplified Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, French, Arabic and Bengali. The text language can be selected independently of the interface language.

How is keyword density calculated?

We count sequences of one, two or three words within each sentence and show the top 20. Percentages include every possible sequence, even excluded common-word phrases. Words are not reduced to their stems. Density is not a search-ranking score.

Why can counts differ between tools?

Tools use different rules for hyphens, emoji, punctuation, and word boundaries. This counter uses documented Unicode segmentation instead of splitting only on spaces.

Is pasted text saved?

No. Text and undo history stay in page memory. Clear, refreshing, or leaving the page discards them; copy your work before navigating. Undo retains up to 20 steps and four million characters across older snapshots.
