Microphone test
Check a local microphone waveform, RMS and peak levels, and negotiated settings. Record, replay, and download a short sample on your device.
Start the test to check your microphone.
Local signal meter · no audio is sent to a server.
dBFS describes digital sample level, not sound pressure. The waveform is not routed to speakers. Target latency is a browser setting, not a measured round-trip delay. Missing settings are marked “Not reported”.
Three small steps.
- Start the test and grant access when your browser asks.
- Inspect the live result and choose another device if needed. Optionally record and download a short sample.
- Stop the test to release this page’s device access.
A few things to know.
RMS and peak values use digital dBFS, not calibrated sound pressure. Near-full-scale samples can indicate possible clipping. Recordings are capped at 10 seconds / 10 MB and stay in memory unless downloaded. Settings may be unreported; latency is a target, not a measured round trip. Device access requires HTTPS or localhost.

Is my audio or video uploaded?
No. Streams and recorded samples are used locally on this page. There is no call connection or server recording.
What happens when I stop?
This page stops all of its own media tracks and clears its live preview. A recorded result can remain in page memory until you delete it or leave. Other tabs can still independently use the same device.
