A few things to know.
Up to 20 files, 25 MB/24 megapixels per input, 100 MB combined source and encoded output. PNG stores the decoded pixels without further loss, but cannot restore detail the JPG compression already removed and does not add transparency. Output is usually larger than the JPG. Original camera metadata is not copied.

Does converting to PNG improve quality?
No. PNG keeps the pixels exactly as the JPG decodes them, including any existing compression artifacts. It prevents further loss when the image is edited and saved again.
Why is the PNG larger?
PNG compresses without discarding detail, which takes more space for photographs than JPEG's lossy compression.
Will the background become transparent?
No. A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG is fully opaque. Removing a background needs an image editor.
